Would love to know how they did this afternoon.

Flip should have canceled second practice so he can go look at game film. Maybe he'll learn how to coach.

Maybe if Flip buys them the new PS3 Move to go with the IPad and IPod that he got the team previously, they'll pay attention to him.

Part of the reason Wall can't be benched and Yi gets as much play as he does?

@DC_MAN88: You say that like there's something wrong buying iPads for the players. In the hands of the right players (which one would think a youthful team like the Wizards is), having the playbook in a multimedia format is a good thing

C'mon, you're giving these morons too much credit. Maybe one of the players lost their IPad and all of Flip's plays have now been leaked!

"Flip Saunders was asked who his captains were and at this time he said they were John Wall and Kirk Hinrich. Saunders: “At this point they’ve shown the leadership through camp. I thought those guys have been our most vocal guys and the two guys that have shown the most leadership.”

Is JWow the captain of the team? Who is going to take seriously, a 20 year old captain who's a rookie and has never been through an NBA season? What kind of joke is this?

When is Grunfeld going to grow a spine and start cutting these idiots? After that, he should resign.

Trade Nick Young, demand Blatche finally put some muscle on those flabby 11" arms and put a foot up Javale McGee's arse

Posted by: OG_Barno | November 8, 2010 10:47 PM | Report abuse

Javale McGee's ceiling is to that of Marcus Camby, as I can see him being that good. But unless he hits the film room and puts in study time his career will pan out to be half of a Marcus Camby.
He has the basketball IQ of say a Nick Young at this point.

I really have to agree with you on this one.

John Wall might eventually earn the right to be the Captain of the team but he should not have been named the Captain, as well as Kirk Hinrich.

How do you make at best a substitute role player the captain, unless he has earned it as well and he hasn't.

Believe it or not, the right person to be Captain of this team is Gilbert Arenas.

It is like, young man, you got us in this mess and you gonna hafta' lead us out of this mess. Naming Gilbert The Captain sends a message to Gilbert that would speak volumes. It would have been like the heavens opening up on his butt.

Young Man, What Have Thou Done? You Are Mainly Responsible, A Primary Force For The Predicament Of This Team. You Must Now Earn Your Keep. You Must Now Lead This Team.

Not naming Gilbert the Captain fosters more of the same from him and doesn't make him responsible for being the leader of this Team when in reality he actually is.

Flip doesn't have the Wisdom.

Force feeding JWall and Hinrich as the Team Captains is like the Annoiting of King James.

But, with one huge difference, King James was debatably deserving. These two, not yet.

You've got to be kidding. Naming Gilby as captain would smack at the face of all that was done during the offseason to exorcise Gilby from the minds of the fans. Why would you name someone captain if you are trying to get his value up so that you can trade him. They are clearly heading in a direction away from Gilby, and naming JWow was a desperate move.

Looking at the entire lineup, nobody deserves to be captain. I would have just made Sam Cassell captain if one had to be chosen.

For those who think all the players on the Wizards roster are lazy morons, Flip is a terrible coach and Ernie is incompetent, why bother to follow the Wizards at all? You can sign up for NBA League Pass and watch the Heat or Oklahoma City or the Celtics instead.

Here's a reasonable option, I think.
How about cutting H, who is too light for the NBA and is probably 2-3 years away from being useful. He can develop in the D League or overseas. Give him a nice signing bonus to play on the Wizards D League team. Then, sign Dwayne Jones if he is still available (he was cut by the Suns, and on 11/5 reportedly was being worked out by Portland). We know that Dwayne Jones can rebound.

Why not sign Erick Dampier? The Rockets baulked on signing him. At least Kalo_rama would agree. He has voiced his preference for Dampier over Haywood.

After all is said and done, sometimes you just have to come out of the darkness into the light. Expunging Gilbert last year and then to soon get rid of him might not be or turn out to be the best course of action.

Finding your way isn't oft times determined by what you think, but what you must do. If you really want to get rid of something they say then set them free. Ironically, naming Gilbert the Captain of this team might help to set him free.

Look around the League, John Wall is probably the biggest new star to be, in the League, but invariably right now the name Gilbert Arenas and the Washington Wizards is unseparable.

Gilbert Areans, when it comes to these Wizards, isn't out of sight, out of mind. He is prevalent and front and center, though plenty of folks would like to think and believe otherwise.

He should be the Captain of this franchise until John Wall receives the mantel from him. It is the way it should be. Though not the way some want it to be, but it just is.

Even with a perfect offense and excellent shooting night, wizard will hardly win games. The team lak basic BB issues.Help defense, boxing out, rebound and keeping position. Most of these issues are not going to come soon. The formula to win wizard is going to be easy for every NBA team. This friday we are going to play against the babcats, you will see how coach brown is going to bit our neurotic Flipo. The babacats will just out rebound and difflect ball with their aggressive SF, he will have his 1st triple double against us.Which team you think flip is going to win? Nov will be a 2 to 15 record month.

I'm not a Flip Saunders supporter. But, let's give credit where credit is due. Something dramatic had to be done to get the team's attention. Once the won-loss record got to 1-9, it would have been too late to turn things around. Now, Flip's bigger problem will come if the team doesn't turn things around. What will be the next motivational stunt? Will he do a "Bobby Knight" and start hurling chairs across the court?

Flip knows from recent Wizards history that going 1-10 will get you fired. At least we have Cassell in the wings instead of Tapscott.

As for Arenas being 10 pounds overweight... it looks more like 15-20... dude, you're getting paid $250,000 per game if you play or not. I know you haven't been able to run, but is eating low fat foods, swimming, etc. too much to ask for? At least don't insult fans who pay $13 each of your salary per game by blaming your ankle.

Here's where the team feels the absence of Jamison. There's no go-to, guaranteed 20 PPG scorer.

GA's rusty and out of shape, AB's out of shape, JH is in street clothes. Those are your 3 potential go-to guys.

Hinrich is a 10 PPG guy, Yi can't shoot, Thornton thinks you can play hard a couple of games and make people forget what you did before.

I think I may start following the Heat, Magic and Celtics.

Oh, good thinking. I mean, who determined that the team captain actually had to be a player? Why can't Ted be the captain? He's a leader. Or even better: Alex Ovechkin. Now there's a proven winner.

Made me wonder what would happen if WaPo ever decided that people who posted on this blog had to have a working sense of reality...

Now we've seen it all: somebody who thinks Antawn Jamison would help turn this club around. Must have spent last season in the jungles of Borneo.

You're right about one thing -- those three vets are not in playing condition. The team should be better when they are. But how much better? Maybe not so much.
