Open thread: Wizards (3-7) vs. Grizzlies (4-8)

By Gene Wang

The Wizards seek their fourth win while trying to avert another two-game losing streak after a 114-83 dismantling at the hands of the Boston Celtics. Washington has had three two-game losing streaks this season. Tonight's game also is a homecoming of sorts for two Grizzlies with local ties. Starting forward Rudy Gay played at Spalding high school, and reserve guard Greivis Vasquez left Maryland last season after establishing himself as one of the most decorated Terrapins in program history. Chat about the game in the comments below, or join the conversation on Twitter with Gene Wang (@gene_wang). See your tweets here by using #wizards.

Tipoff: 7:30 p.m.; TV: CSN-Plus; Radio: 106.7 FM.

Given up too many offensive rebounds, 10 in the 1st half!

Each defender needs put a offensive player on his back, and make sure boxing him out!

great win. now get back Wall & Yi and lets see what we can really do. It would be so awesome if we could win the next 2 games against Detroit & Philly and then go back on TNT against Atlanta with a chance to get to .500 That would be awesome to see what Charles & Kenny say about us then if we could pull it off

Gil shoot 10fts. I dont think Gil has that many attempts in the last 4 seasons combined...lol

I dont care if he misses the layups. I just like to see him attack & get to the line again. He actually made a couple of layups tonight. Still, I think he can only miss so many before he starts trying to jump a little higher & go harder at the rim. Thats when he will be an elite scorer again

Wizards definitely got some home calls from the refs tonight but I'll take it. Can't remember the last time the Wizards made 30 FTs in a game.

McGee is still too anxious to score when he gets the ball and as a result he's taking gawd-awful shots but he IS hustling and is actually doing a better job of putting a body on people to get rebounds. Gotta take the good with the bad while he learns, I guess.

Well, Les BouleS can beat the bad teams, but get easily smoked by the good teams. It was a scrappy game where the starters carried the team. Gilby was back to his old ways, meaning taking long J's after dribbling down the court, isolating himself while the team stands around and watches, and driving to the basket and getting to the line, but not being able to finish above the rim. Let's hope JWow gets healthy soon so he can return to the PG role.

Hilton picked up quick fouls. Also, when McGee left the game, Memphis guards immediately drove to the basket. McGee had 12 boards. Randolph wanted nothing to do with McGee after blocking a shot and later forcing an air ball. McGee also had the follow slam after Arenas' miss for the last basket. He hustled hard tonight. He deserved the minutes.

I won't be critical win they win(really?) they tried to give it away but the Grizz managed despite their talent level to make the Wiz look like world beaters,Arenas was the clear X factor controlling the tempo and giving the Wizards a chance to win and lo and behold they did just that what Flip has to do is to start Wall and Arenas and have Kurt and NY come off the bench along with Hilton and two other minute worthy players in other words a second starting five that can be effective.

@VaWizard85,

Thanks, missed entire game. Glad to see those 39 mpg in the box score by McGee. I heard a little of Glen on the radio, when McGee got the ball stolen but on the other end Glen said he blocked the short and the Wiz got the ball right back.

Glen was saying great redemption by McGee. In McGee's case he said you have to accept the bad with the good.

I totally agree. Let the man just play.
