Open thread: Wizards (6-14) at Kings (4-15)

By Michael Lee

Andray Blatche attempted to test his bruised left hip, but quickly decided that he was unable to play and would miss his second consecutive game. Coach Flip Saunders said he would likely lean on rookies Trevor Booker and Kevin Seraphin earlier than he did in Los Angeles, when the duo helped the Wizards come back from a 19-point deficit to get within single digits late in the game. Booker had a career high 14 points, Seraphin had a career-high four blocked shots, and both had five fouls apiece. "They don't leave any fouls on the court," Saunders said. "They'll play a lot. We have to reward those guys for what they did last night. All of our players have to know when you go out and play and produce, you're going to get opportunities." Tipoff: 10 p.m.; TV: CSN; Radio: 106.7 FM.

wow, is Booker & Seraphin starting over McGee? I could see Booker with Dray out but Seraphin too? This should be interesting

Utilityman1, BF78 and the like,
Now now now now now now now now now....what about the concept of rebuilding a team is so daunting to comprehend? My god....we have to make a cross country trip kids...it's over a 1000 miles....please stop asking if we are there yet.

Personally I am quite content right now just watching the development of John Wall and the rest of the kids. I would be giddy happy to see consistent effort each and every night but again this is a rebuild...20 some games into the first season...if this is so frustrating for you why not just pop on a Lakers cap and head over to their web page and discuss potential Western Conference finals matchups...go get yourselves some instant gratification. Sheesh.

Ted you have to do something about saunders.

Not to have Mcghee and Young in the game w/ 7 mins left is unforgiveable.

Wall sitting out this one. The kid is soft.

Is tonight gonna be the night where the Wiz lose their 12th in a row on the road and where most people on his blog get so giddy about the team's better effort when the outcome was hardly in question? And not to mention, it was against a team that's notorious for coasting against vastly inferior opponents during the regular season to only turn on the switch when it counts (yes, they are so good, they actually do that).
Yeah, let's all forget that this team is absolutely atrocious with no direction or leadership whatsoever and pin all our hopes on 2 grossly undersized role players that should have been drafted and would have probably been available in the second round.
Better yet, let's crown EG since the team ONLY lost by 7 (and 11 straight on the road) to the defending champions who clearly play disinterested this time of the year. If that's not a loser's mentality, I don't know what is.
Some people definitely deserve to be fans of this franchise!

Hey Flip, I don't know if you realize it but you lost last night. And BTW, it was your 11th road loss in a row. Please stop cultivating a losing mentality by rewarding a losing effort. I see enough of it on this blog!

So agree...like anyone who does not understand the concept of "rebuild"...to help you out it means the fan base should have little to no expectation of being terribly competitive for a period of time while they work to redefine the roster and persona of the team.

The owner of the team communicated this broadly to the fan base...sorry if this was confusing to you and you thought instead "rebuild" meant win championship this year.

Shadow, I totally understand the concept of rebuilding but the process is certain to be doomed since it's spearheaded by the one that got us in this abysmal situation to begin with.
Rebuilding isn't only about changing players, drafting new players and signing young draft busts in hopes of resuscitating their careers. Rebuilding starts with a change in culture and it ranges from a change in players, coaches, executives to even team doctors and front office personnel...

The Shadow knows. you shoul;d be on Saunders coaching staff.

This is BS..rotation is like helter skelter...no unity.

Concur but I don't think they are finished yet.

Abe died, gun incident, flushed CB, AJ and BH, got 1st pick (yay)....lot of truama last year and I think Ted just wanted to have some stability entering the season. I personally don't believe Flip is the right coach for the youngest team in the NBA...would love to see a Byron Scott or Mark Jackson with them instead....I am hopeful we will see a coaching change before next season....

I am ok with EG and consider him to be a better than average GM. We will have a lot of cap space at the end of this season and we should be able to add a couple more pieces then.

Who will saunders blame this game on? I know , unfair scheduling, back to back games, road trip, good night suckers.

Twitch is topping himself tonight.
Didn't think it possible.
So Seraphin plays one good quarter and replaces JMc in the starting lineup. He is destroying Jmc's confidence and energy, Pathetic...
Twitch has to go. There is no rhythm to his offense and the defense is making the Kings look like the 60 Celtics. They have lost 9 in a row Twitch!!!
Gil is putting on a clinic of defensive don'ts...ok to back into the middle when your man doesn't have the ball, sometimes, but not when your man has the hot hand.
Gil does not use his legs offensively or defensively. He has no lift and is complacent with ball handling and passes, a turnover machine. He is totally and completely useless. Do not care if he hits a few jumpers later. He can not be relied on and is a complete deterrent to this team.

This just in... Sam Cassell now on a 10-day and will also be starting next game.

yikes...we now have more turnovers than defensive rebounds. If Flip is now really as tuned out as it appears Ted may not be able to wait on a change.

The Wizards are absolutely getting handled by the Kings...need I repeat...the Sacramento Kings. This is a total embarrassment and the entire roster and Wizard's staff alike should be absolutely ashamed. It seems as though this team is carrying a bunch of dead weight which will only hamper their progresss (albeit very slow) for the future. I have no idea what Hilton Armstrong is doing on this team and the same can be said about Gee. As a fan it is very difficult to watch this team struggle night after night. Ted my friend, you have your work cut out for you!!

Twitch and Ernie is a funny, funny show! Soon to be in a NBA town near you. The most insignificant franchise over the last 30 years keeps sinking even lower. I didn't even know their depths were possible! Go Bullets! This is Bullets Basketball! We had a helluva season back in '78! Where's the Cake? Bring the cake in! I'm so god damn proud of you!

Open Letter To Gilbert Arenas:

Gilbert PLEASE get your swag back. This team needs you to put up 25-30 points per game. I know you can still do it. I also know the team hurt your feelings by taking down your image(s) but for the LOVE OF GOD, please start playing like I know you're still capable!
