Andray Blatche gets into a Twitter beef?

By Michael Lee

The Wizards were supposed to be focused on starting out their first game with new arrivals Mike Bibby, Maurice Evans and Jordan Crawford, but as they prepared to face the Miami Heat on Friday, some comments on the Twitter account of forward Andray Blatche have provided another unnecessary distraction.

Blatche -- or someone who hacked his account -- got into arguments with several different users. He also had an ugly exchange on Twitter that ended with him challenging someone to a fist fight after the Wizards' game on Saturday against Dallas.

After making comments about being able to "buy and sell" someone and calling people who make threats on the Internet "punks," Blatche allegedly tweeted: "ok let's do this so everyone can see wat u bout let's meet n dc saturday after my game." Another tweet on his account read, "like I said I'm done with this fake internet thing if you wanna see meet me saturday after game I can throw these things homie"

Those tweets no longer appear on Blatche's Verified Account, but he wrote this morning that his account was hacked, "If anyone really thinks that was me responding yesterday is crazy I just heard of this this morning."

He later added, "i would like for everyone to use there brain for a moment im hardly on here why would i wanna be on twitter in miami i tweeted 33 things"

Maybe it was Arnday Baltche.

When reached by phone, Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld said he was not aware of the situation and wasn't prepared to comment. "I don't know anything about it," Grunfeld said. (UPDATE: As of now, the team does not plan to take any disciplinary action and will accept Blatche's explanation that he was not responsible for the confrontational tweets.)

Blatche survived the trade deadline without getting moved, but his name was caught up rumors after he got into an altercation with teammate JaVale McGee outside of an area club on Christmas Eve. Blatche is averaging 15.9 points, on 43.1 percent shooting, and 7.9 rebounds, but he has had a disappointing season after breaking his foot last summer. He has been slow to recover and been able to get his weight back down to where it was last season. The Wizards rewarded Blatche with a three-year, $28-million extension last September after he showed some promise after the trade deadline.

Apparently there is no 'there' there with Andray Baltche. Young people, please learn the proper spelling of english words when you text, post or write.

Really? You don't think a guy that has been shot at a club, arrested for prostitution, has been suspended for conduct detrimental to the team, & at times has had issue with teammates couldn't possibly threaten a dude via his twitter account? Then... on 106.7 they say he should say his account has been hacked... then he comes out just one hour ago & makes this statement:

If anyone really thinks that was me responding yesterday is crazy I just heard of this this morning
about 1 hour ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®
Retweeted by 6 people

This is just another case of 'Dray being stupid 'Dray... God I wish they'd trade his sorry butt & get someone that wants to be a power forward & not a guard.

Like Yao Ming, AB needs a translator. I am sure Ernie would pick up the tab for our "superstar".

Apologize... Dray was shot in carjacking incident not at a night club... my point still stands.

I am nowhere near being a big Dre fan or apologist but c'mon, this is too stupid for any NBA player,it is obviously a person like many above who simply want him gone at any cost. Say what you will about his play etc,but leave this kind of Blackwater ops c-rap out of it,sad,so very sad someone would stoop so low and think it might actually work. What a joke.

C'mon, people. Blatche has NEVER done anything stupid. Why question his veracity now?

Either Twitter has the limpest security protocols on the entire Internet, or all of these celebrities and athletes who tweet idiotic, reputation-damaging nonsense and then claim "I WUZ HACKED" are full of copious amounts of crap.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that this is the first time that phrase has ever been uttered.

I can't believe he would let someone get to him by talking crap on Twitter, come on Andray, you know better than that! Who cares what somebody says over Twitter? You need to focus on playing basketball and helping your team get this thing turned around!

If they would have traded 7 Day Dray this wouldn't even be a story WE care about..But looks like we will have to continue to watch this train wreck that Blatche has become in slow motion...

@mfowler1:

Have you heard about what Charlie Sheen said?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/02/24/AR2011022407282.html?hpid=top

So given that, unless you have some evidence to suggest that NBA players are somehow particularly smarter than Hollywood actors, you should at least accept the possibility that Blatche was the real culprit here.

When will we get to the point where we don't care what a barely literate tall guy writes, or what responses that invokes from the even less literate morons who care to follow such a person.

This front row seat to the decline of western civilization is not always so great.

First of all, it ain't about my being credible or not, because to be honest, we both aren't.

Defend Dray all you want. I know he was a second round pick. Is he a winner? Yes or No. He is a decent 2nd round pick. But, in the end, what has he proven he is worth?

Stashing Pechorov overseas because we had a stacked roster? Is that the best you can do? Is that the best Ernie could do? Are you saying that he passed on Rondo because they had Arenas and an old Antonio Daniels at point, plus we need to stash people overseas? Sure they are the facts. But they had other people on that roster that was worthless. Donnell Taylor was on the roster after the year after that draft. Where is he now? Was he a guard? Was he worth keeping instead of drafting Rondo?

You can look at it however you want. I did not compare D-Mac to Dray. I compared D-Mac to Marc Gasol. Can't you read and comprehend? Just like I compared Ernie drafting Pech over Rondo.

Do this, tell me where in Ernie's drafting has he excelled?

That's why I always get the bleacher seats. You can see the field better and the crown is more fun.

this is a light hearted funny post that i will laugh at while the wizards lose to the heat. Blatche's pocket gets picked because he can't put the ball on the floor and we end up on the wrong side of a sportscenter highlight by dwade and lebron

like seriously...get this guy out of here.

Guy is one of the weakest men/players I have ever seen, mentally and physically, please trade him. Even for a 2nd rounder, he is useless. I dont think too many people have to worry about fighting him either, if you blow on him he will fall over.

who really cares? get a LIFE people, & I don't mean on Twitter

TIME FOR THE WIZ TO CUT THEIR LOSSES AND GET THIS CLOWN OFF THE TEAM.

PUT HIM ON WAIVERS AND SEE IF SOMEONE CLAIMS HIM!

Posted by: noodlez | February 25, 2011 7:44 PM | Report abuse

Why would anyone bother going to the trouble of hacking his account and then challenging tweeters to a fist fight? Of course it was Blatche. It fits with all of his other off-court incidents. Anyone smart enough to hack his account probably has better things to do than challenge a bunch of random strangers to a fist fight.

This how you know a team really stinks, when the players start lashing out on "the twitter." LoL! Who cares, why is this even news? The Wizards lose games constantly, that should be the headline.
